What's wrong with my art?

Mon Dec 28, 2009, 3:35 PM
What the hell is wrong with my art? Why am I no where near as good even though practically all I do is draw. Why doesn't anyone look at it? Or barely anyone besides my friends commission me? I can't even get any critique! I would kill to know what I can improve on. But everyone just goes "Oh your art is so cute and good and blah blah blah" they pat my ass and move on. I don't want ass pats, I want someone to come up to me and say "Oh hey, there are some problems with your X that can be improved, like this, this or that." I even went to concept art to get critique but no one even looked at anything I posted. The few people who did respond gave me crap for advice like "Oh, this character looks really sinister, you should try using more round lines blah blah" Well the character is supposed to be sinister looking, he conspires to kill his boss and steal his fortune. Why don't you tell me something useful. >:[

Anyway, if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it...Please be honest with me, please tell me what my art lacks, please tell me what you think could use improvement. You aren't going to hurt my feelings...

DETHKLOK!

Sun Nov 22, 2009, 5:37 PM
Oh my god it was so amazing! Okay, but let me go back to the beginning.

Yesterday morning I realized that I didn't really have anything to wear because I'm at my mom's house, and not at home, but I did have my mario pajam pants, and a plain black t-shirt. So I took the t-shirt and wrote DethKlok on it with bleach and a paint brush, and my mum helped me set it by checking when it was dry enough to throw into the dryer for a little while. I liked how it looked, and I got a lot of compliments on it at the show. :3

Zoren picked me up (Jeff didn't go because he had to work) I was a little apprehensive about being in a car for so long, but the daytime trip turned out okay. It was un eventful and there was relatively no traffic.

When I got to Jana's I helped her make an early dinner for everyone. :D I felt useful! For like the first time since the accident. I made the chicken, and jana made some tortellini, and everyone liked everything. It was all really good. :3

Then we went off to the show, but we got there way super early, so we ended up walking to the starbucks, and Jana and marc took turns pushing me in the wheelchair. I think Jana had the most fun since she would push me and ride the back for a bit. XD

Most everyone we ran into at the show was super nice, and I got a bunch of high fives and fist bumps for coming with my broken leg. Also! I got to play Brutal Legend too! Also, the people in line at the merch counter helped me get in and out of line, and I had to let a few people know I was behind them, I didn't want them to back up into the leg rests on my chair and hurt themselves. I met a few cool people during the second act hanging out by the Brutal Legend booth. I met a cool chick during the Mastodon set too when I went to go take my medication to the drinking fountain.

The first band, High on Fire was pretty good, we all really liked them. Zoren even went back and got merchandise for them, and we're all thinking of looking to download them or something.

The second band was AWFUL. They were called Convergance or something like that, but they sucked to bad they got boo'd XD We were laughing at them for days. That's when we went to play Brutal Legend, since they didn't have a speaker back where the booth was set up so we wouldn't have listen to them.

Mastodon was pretty good too. By then though all of my meds were in full affect so I was kind of tripping out on all that stuff, and staring slack jawed at their screen. I admit, I kind of dozed off a little bit, since I had earplugs and one of the pain meds make me real sleepy. >.< But I liked them.

DethKlok was o course AWESOMER. I didn't know they were going to be playing in sync with video of the cartoon it was so freaking rad! Oh man. Also They had some cool animation that wasn't music videos and stuff, and they had a little cartoon with Dethklok and Eddie from Brutal Legend. Toki was so cute in it. "He's likes a father's to me" awwwww. Not a bumble bee.

Anyway, after the show we all got in the handicapped elevator and circled the event center looking for their tour buses. Then we got the help of a stagehand to get me and Zoren backstage, but we got caught by a security lady, and we told he what happened, and that I had busted my ass in Physical therapy so I could get out of the hospital in time. She told us that we couldn't wait there because the band as going to come off and we would be trampled, so she told us we could wait outside, and that she would ask the band if they would sign my cast.

Well, we waitewd outside for like 10 minutes, first Gene came out, lit a cigarette, saw me in my wheelchair then came over and said "hi, I'm Gene" and shook my hand and I introduced myself with my little sharpie in my hand, and he;s all, "You want me to sign that?" "Yes, Please". She he signed it "Mandy! Ur Leg is Metal.-Gene H." I thanked him and he asked how it happened, and I told him, and then more fans came up and got autographs (it was the guys I had met earlier, and I let them borrow my pen) until this big bald guy comes out and he looks around, sees me comes over, and asks "how many people are with you?" and I showed him, and he's like, "Okay, one of you who can push her come with me to meet Brenden." So he takes me and Zoren back stage over by the Dethklok dressing room, and Brenden comes out of the room and he shakes my hand and introduces himself to me, and then while he's signing my cast he asked me what happened. He thanked me for coming and hoped my leg healed up quickly. he signed my cast "MANDY! YOU RULE!-BRENDEN SMALL" in like huge giant letters all across it. I thanked him like six times and told him to keep dojgn what he does best, and then he had to go and so did I. Everyone was so nice. It made the pain of being in the car for so long all hella worth it.

It was so freaking awesome. Jana got a bunch of pictures, including ones of my cast and stuff, but she hasn't sent them to me yet. I'll post them when she does. :D

Final summation, I AM SO GLAD I GOT TO GO.

Also, the vibrations from the show felt so freaking good on my leg, holy crap. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

On the downside, the trip home really freaked me out a little bit. I think it will be awhile before I am comfortable driving or riding in a car at night again.

I want to break free!

Thu Nov 19, 2009, 5:09 PM
I'm getting out tomorrow!

yES YES YES YES!

Oh god, i am so sick of hospitals D:

I'm going to be at my mum's house for a few days, but I should still have internet and all that. Then I get to go home and cuddle my poor ratties! I haven't seen them in so long they are probably mad at me. D: Jeff has been taking care of them though, so a couple yogies should make them good again.

Now though, I'm gonna go to pet therapy and play with doggies. :3

Change of scenery, but still a hospital

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 1:16 PM
Hey ya'll!

So, my surgery went great, I'm healing real well, I'm off of any tubes and wires and all the horrible things they stuck in me, and am now only havng to rely on oral pain meds! Yay! Which means, that I was transferred to a really nice physical therapy rehabilitation hospital for a few days. Until I am self sufficient enough to be sent home. The good news? Thsi place has computers and internet for patient access. Awesome. They also insist I spend most of my day out of bed and in a wheel chair so I am a bit more mobile and don;t ghave to chill in my room all day. This place is a lot more like a hotel than a hospital. I'm really glad. I was starting to get super depressed in the other place, not only because I had to be in bed all day, but my very loud roommate was an alcoholic exotic dancer with baby mama drama and hella ghetto friends coming and going all the dang time. I have a room to my self now, and dn;t have to wear a hospital gown anymore. HECK YEAH! I never imaginied I would miss clothes so much. Or using a real toilet for that matter. I will probabyl sill need to see someone to talk to when I get out of the hospital, because I was crying a lot, and I can;t imagine I'm not traumatized from being trapped in a car for half an hour that may or may not be on fire, and feeling glass grit between my teeth while I wait for help.

Tl:DR, I'm back online a bit, and I'm feeling a bit better, but still in the hospital. I'm looking forward to ditching the pain meds they make me feel weird.
